Key Responsibilities:
- Work from generally defined procedures in processing a wide variety of wastes, monitor, make adjustments and stay within recognized limits and government standards when processing wastes considered hazardous to the environment.
- Perform tests and exercise judgement to determine if substance meets prescribed criteria before being released or forwarded for additional treatment.
- Operate a variety of motorized equipment necessary to transport chemicals and wastes between locations for delivery or storage purposes. Properly fill out necessary forms and paperwork and identify strength and type of materials involved.
- Perform preventative maintenance pipefitting and routine repair work as part of facility operation within working in conjunction with other trades, utilize common skill crossover where opportunity for shared responsibilities allows.
- May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individuals’ skills.
- May be required to train for, obtain and maintain licenses operator permits and certifications within assigned trade specialization.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years’ experience in waste management, wastewater treatment and/or environmental services
- US Citizenship required due to government contracts
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current or expired OSHA 40 Hazardous Materials Operations
- Associates or bachelor’s degree with focus on the following disciplines; Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science/Engineering, Wastewater Treatment, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
- Technical expertise in environmental regulations & compliance arenas: The Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Department of Transportation (DOT)
- Knowledge of Aerospace processes associated with forgings, castings, composites, wet chemistry, machining, metal finishing, etc.
- Knowledge of inspection methods, process control/certification, Lean or Six Sigma tools, ACE operating system, or Continuous Improvement
