Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Process Analysis and Optimization: Analyze existing production processes, schedules, and workflows using tools like time and motion studies and data analysis to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
- System Design and Implementation: Design and develop efficient systems that integrate workers, machines, materials, information, and energy, ensuring maximum efficiency and productivity,
- Quality Control: Establish and implement quality control procedures and statistical analysis techniques (e.g., Six Sigma) to monitor product standards, resolve production problems, and minimize costs.
- Project Management: Contribute to projects aimed at implementing new technologies, process improvements, and facility expansions, managing timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Gather, interpret, and analyze data related to processes and performance (KPIs) to make informed decisions and present recommendations to management and other stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Kaizen events, value stream mapping) to foster a culture of efficiency and waste reduction.
- Collaboration and Training: Work closely with manufacturing, logistics, quality assurance, and other departments to implement solutions and train staff on new procedures and equipment.
What You’ll Need to be Successful
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial engineering or a related engineering field (e.g., Manufacturing, Mechanical) from an ABET-accredited institution is required.
- Experience: This is an entry level position. Experience in process improvement and optimization, preferably in a manufacturing, supply chain, or operations environment is valuable but not required.
- Language Skills: Strong communication skills.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in process mapping, and statistical analysis tools.
- Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and production planning software.
- Physical Demands: Regularly required to walk, talk, hear, stand, and sit.
- Work Environment:
- Work is typically a blend of an office setting, where data analysis and planning occur, and hands-on time in production areas or facilities to observe operations and implement changes. Some travel may be required depending on project needs
- While performing duties in the plant, the employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles.
- The noise level in the plant work environment is usually loud.
