Pratt Home Builders is seeking a CAD Designer/Drafter with 2 years of civil design experience. This position offers the opportunity to be involved in many types of projects, supporting our team in a wide variety of engineering design and drafting tasks. Candidates must be proactive, have excellent communication skills, and a professional attitude. Candidates should be prepared to work on multiple projects through all phases of documentation. Candidates must have solid math skills as well as the ability to work quickly and efficiently, maintain a positive attitude, learn and grow in the position, and lead others. Qualified applicants MUST have experience in land development engineering/residential site planning, including water, sewer, roads, and drainage.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
· Coordinate with review agencies, subconsultants, and clients.
· Prepare and manage engineering plans and project documents.
· Design and drafting of engineering plans to include alignments, profiles, cross sections, utilities, and general detail drawings.
· Produce topographical profiles, cross sections, surface TINs, earthwork calculations, and grading plans with assistance from Project Manager or Engineer.
· Create, edit, label, and manage Civil 3D alignments, parcels, corridors, and surfaces.
· Perform roadway design, including creating corridors, subassemblies, road FG, contour grading, and surface cleanup/manipulation through Tin/points.
· Use Civil 3D to design plan and profiles of utilities, including using and creating pipe networks, editing and changing parts and styles, catch basin sizing/spacing and minimum cover, manhole sizing/spacing and minimum cover, hydrant spacing, and creating waterlines in profile with deflection and exaggeration, per jurisdictional requirements.
· Perform routine drafting assignments that require judgement in resolving issues or making recommendations.
· Evaluate engineering alternatives and resolve technical issues.
· Prepare quantity take-offs from conceptual drawings and final construction plans in excel
· Work under guidance of engineers or other designers to complete assigned work within budgeted timeframes.
· Regular and reliable attendance.
· Plan, coordinate, and execute work in a safe, timely, cost effective, and compliant manner.
Qualifications
· General CAD and Civil 3D experience required with at least 2 years’ experience in land development engineering.
· Ability to visualize 3-dimensionally when given a 2-dimensional sketch.
· Thorough understanding of land development industry and the role of Civil Engineering in it.
· Previous experience with utility, subdivision, and earthwork grading design and drafting.
Education and/or Experience
· Associate degree (AS) or equivalent combination of the below education and experience.
· Certification in CAD software, specifically AutoCAD Civil 3D.
· Strong experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D (2 years’ experience preferred).
· General Excel and Blue Beam experience preferred
· GIS experience is preferred.
