Shift: 6am-4pm

Days Off: Thursday/Friday/Saturday

Looking for a career that fuels your passions? We have the perfect opportunity for you! Prairie Meadows Casino, Racetrack, and Hotel is looking for a Mechanic to assist in inspecting, repairing, and maintaining facility vehicles and machinery. 

Here’s what you’ll be responsible for: 

• Performs journeyman level work on company vehicles and equipment as well as preventative maintenance on various types of vehicles and equipment.  
• Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operators, conducting inspections, repairing engine failures, repairing mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, replacing parts and components, and repairing body damage.   
• Follows preventative maintenance program, performs routine maintenance such as; engine tune ups, oil changes, brake adjustments, filter and fluid changes, tire changes, rotations and balancing, etc., on all equipment and vehicles.  
• Troubleshoots and repairs gas vehicles and attachments (cars, trucks, buses, etc.), diesel vehicles and attachments (tractors, end loaders, skid loaders, water trucks, boom and scissor lifts, street sweeper etc.), snow removal equipment and attachments (sanders, blades, snow blowers, etc.) and small engine equipment (ATV, Golf carts, mowers, generators, weed eaters, chainsaws, etc.).   
• Ensures all equipment is in good working condition and safe for operation.  

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent along with technical or specialized training in the mechanics/automotive field. At least two years’ experience required. Must have experience working with diesel engines. Must have a valid Iowa Class B driver’s license (CDL with Air Brakes), a safe driving record and must meet company insurance requirements. Knowledge of diagnostic tools and equipment is a must for this position. Must be able to perform automotive and equipment repairs and maintenance. Ability to operate various types of equipment safely and cautiously. Must pay close attention to detail. Must be able to drive both standard and automatic transmission vehicles. Must have excellent problem-solving skills. Must know how to weld and use welding equipment. Must be trained for all phases of air conditioning repair. Must keep current on all needed certifications (CDL & Vehicle Air-Conditioning). May be called for major breakdowns and snow removal. Indoor and outdoor environment. May have exposure to chemicals. Ability to bend and do overhead work. Must be able to work weekends and holidays when necessary. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
