POSITION SUMMARY
Wage: $17.50 - $24.76
Performs support to the Radiology department by collecting and verifying all patient demographic and payer class information for preauthorization of high-end imaging and adheres to ethical and legal standards while demonstrating professional characteristics. Provides clerical support to ensure that the daily functions of the Radiology department are carried out in an organized manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides excellent customer service while greeting, and welcoming patients, answering the telephone, and screening and routing calls appropriately in a courteous and prompt manner.
Registers Patients
- Takes patient's face sheet and stickers and verifies the patient exam to be done
- Place patient stickers on all orders and reports
- Gives the patient the correct form to fill out for the appropriate test to be conducted and on MRI may have to obtain an order from the provider if the patient has done metal grinding without eye protection
- Registers order for each patient according to the physician's order and places order along with consents, reports, face sheets in the correct modality bin for the technologist to pick up
Answers incoming phone call, determines the purpose of the calls and then answers and/or forwards call to the appropriate modality.
Obtains physician orders for insurance and pre-certifications and ensures the exam is pre-certed prior to being performed.
Organizes, files, and retrieves all appropriate medical records including labs and previous exams for patients for Radiologist comparison.
Sorts, reviews, and distributes daily mail to appropriate staff.
Maintains patient filing and record systems including checking films in and out, retrieving film/reports for physicians, assisting in identifying orders for non-compliance with Local Medical Review Policy (LMRP), and filling out Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) on appropriate exams.
Prepare images on discs. Sending images via Telerad to other facilities as requested.
Provides transcription support for Radiology reporting
Maintain and distribute departmental logs, fact sheets, and reports as required.
Retrieving necessary information as required and providing correspondence to all providers who request reports and or images.
Other duties may be assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer Skills
EHR/EMR/PACS/Microsoft applications
