QUALIFICATION

  • EDUCATION: Completed a minimum of a high school diploma;
  • LICENSURE: Associate degree preferred with continued employment conditional on successful completion of Paraeducator Generalist I Certificate.
  • EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience working with children preferred
  • Ability to effectively relate to student population being served
  • Strong communication skills appropriate for assigned tasks
  • Proficiency in using relevant technology tools
  • Pass the required security check conducted as per Human Resources hiring practice.
  • Must have transportation and valid driver’s license

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist the SLP with screenings of students with no interpretation of information
  • Assist with data collection and documentation as directed by the SLP
  • Follow documented treatment plans developed by the supervising SLP
  • Plan activities that lead to student success on goals
  • Assist in providing active positive engagement for all students 3 to 21
  • Assist with duties such as preparing and making activities as directed by SLP
  • Assist with clerical duties such as making copies and preparing materials
  • Assist with scheduling, record keeping, maintenance of supplies and equipment
  • Collect data for monitoring quality improvement
  • Comply with regulations, reimbursement and documentation requirements
  • Provide support and assistance for teletherapy as needed and directed
  • Fulfils professional responsibilities of a Speech Language Pathology Assistant
  • Adhere to the Speech Language Pathology Assistant’s job responsibilities
  • Additional duties as assigned
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Maintain confidentiality with regard to student record and information
  • Regional Administrator evaluates SLPA using Classified Staff form and input from supervising SLP.

  • Problem solves by utilizing data-based decisions, preventing and resolving conflicts and providing comprehensive, high quality solutions
  • Works with integrity and maintains confidentiality
  • Models and integrates technology into daily work
  • Leads professional development for at least one course, internally, externally or both
  • Understands other duties and responsibilities may be assigned, according to current needs of the agency or districts served

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to travel between schools and sites served
  • Normal, routine levels of activity related to bending, carrying, climbing, hearing, lifting, reaching, sitting, standing, vision and walking, and may also involve above-average levels of activity at times that can’t always be anticipated
