What are the responsibilities and job description for the Administrative Assistant to the Administrators of Special Education position at Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency?
Requirements:
- Minimum of high school diploma; Degree preferred/coursework in office management
- Knowledge of office procedures and the operations of an office
- Detail oriented
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google
- Accuracy in working with a variety of data
- Ability to exercise sound professional judgment and discretion
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain records and file documentation with the State Department of Education and/or appropriate agencies and stakeholders regarding: Rule Exceptions, Out of State Placements, Competent Private Instruction, Independent Educational Evaluations, Surrogate Parents, Affirmation of Consultation, State Complaints, Due Process Hearings, and other litigious situations
- Extract and organize data from various sources
- Maintain records and file documentation for interagency agreements such as Head Start
- Tuition billing
- Maintains records for contracted service providers such as OT/PT, SLP, etc.
- Compose routine correspondence, special notices and memos as requested by the Director of Special Education
- Receive calls, take messages, greet visitors and provide information to calling parties
- Arrange meetings and travel
- Manage travel documents for reimbursement to staff
- Maintain staff and student files and records as requested
- Process monthly mileage and expense claims for the Special Education department and maintain files
- Provide secretarial services to other secretaries as needed, including special projects and training
- Assist in organizing administrative projects and travel
- Provide general administrative assistance as requested
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education
Terms of Employment:
- Twelve (12) month contract with vacation and other benefits as provided by board policy
- Salary to be determined by the Board of Directors
