About the Role
As an Energy Testing Field Technician, you will be trained to perform energy testing and home energy audits on new residential construction in accordance with RESNET and Energy Star guidelines. You will evaluate building performance, conduct diagnostic testing, and work closely with builders and code officials to ensure homes meet required standards. Essential Functions
- Perform energy testing and Home Energy Audits in accordance with RESNET and Energy Star standards
- Conduct visual inspections of energy-efficient construction features, including:
- Insulation installation
- Ductwork quality
- Framing and air sealing
- Ventilation systems
- Perform Blower Door and Duct Leakage testing using advanced diagnostic equipment to verify building performance
- Accurately collect, document, and report field data
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with builders, contractors, and code officials through clear, effective communication
Education & Experience
- 2 years of experience in HVAC, construction, home remodeling, or related trades preferred
- Certifications such as HERS Rater, Energy Star, Green Building, ACCA 310 HVAC Grading, IECC, EPA HVAC, BPI, or LEED are a plus but not required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and using hand tools and testing equipment
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
- Dependable transportation and ability to travel daily to job sites
- Dependable, self-directed, and able to complete work with limited supervision
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
