What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities & Grounds Maintenance Technician position at Prairie Hills Mall?
We are seeking a dependable, hardworking Maintenance/Janitorial Worker to join our team. This position is responsible for helping maintain the interior and exterior of the property, ensuring the facility and grounds remain clean, safe, functional, and well maintained.
Responsibilities:
- Perform general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and common areas
- Maintain and stock cleaning supplies
- Handle trash and waste removal throughout the property
- Perform general building maintenance and minor repairs as needed
- Maintain mall grounds, parking lots, sidewalks, and exterior areas
- Perform mowing, trimming, landscaping, weed control, and other seasonal groundskeeping
- Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, entrances, parking areas, and other areas as needed
- Apply ice melt and maintain safe walking conditions during winter weather
- Pick up litter and debris throughout the property and parking lots
- Operate and maintain lawn care, snow removal, and other maintenance equipment
- Perform floor care, including buffing and waxing
- Assist with changing light bulbs, filters, and other routine facility maintenance
- Assist with tenant maintenance requests and property projects as needed
- Monitor the property for maintenance issues, damage, or safety hazards and report concerns promptly
- Assist with event setup, teardown, and other property needs when necessary
- Perform other maintenance, janitorial, and groundskeeping duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license
- Previous experience in facilities maintenance, groundskeeping, landscaping, custodial work, or commercial cleaning preferred
- Experience operating lawn care and snow removal equipment preferred
- Basic knowledge of tools, equipment, and minor repairs
- Ability to safely operate maintenance and groundskeeping equipment
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to handle a variety of tasks and changing property needs
