Maintenance & Mold Setup Technician in MONROE IOWA
Seeking a skilled, motivated Maintenance & Mold Setup Technician to support our expanding production operation. This is a hands-on technical role combining mechanical maintenance, mold changeovers, and light electrical troubleshooting on commercial plastic processing equipment.

What You’ll Do
- Perform preventive and emergency maintenance on plastic manufacturing equipment
- Complete mold changes and machine setups for production runs
- Troubleshoot and repair:
- Mechanical systems
- Pneumatics & hydraulics
- Basic electrical systems (sensors, switches, motors, VFDs – as applicable)
- Assist with process optimization and startup adjustments
- Work closely with production to minimize downtime
- Maintain accurate maintenance and setup documentation
- Follow all safety and lockout/tagout procedures
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot various molds for plastics injection molding, blow molding, and extrusion processes to ensure efficient production.
- Conduct routine inspections of molds and machinery using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers to maintain quality standards.
- Handle materials safely using forklifts and other warehouse equipment while adhering to materials handling protocols.
- Conduct quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process to identify defects or deviations from specifications.
- Assist in fabrication and assembly tasks using hand tools, ensuring precision and adherence to design specifications.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying opportunities for process improvements and waste reduction.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, inspections, and production logs in compliance with safety and quality standards.
What We’re Looking For
- 1 years experience in:
- Industrial maintenance or
- Mold setup / plastics processing or
- Mechanical technician role in manufacturing
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge
- Experience with commercial plastic machines preferred (injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming, etc.)
- Ability to safely operate:
- Hand tools, power tools, hoists, and measuring instruments
- Self-starter mentality with strong problem-solving skills
- Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment
Pay: $17.50 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
