Position Overview
This role combines front-desk medical reception responsibilities with optical dispensing and patient education. Cross-training will be provided for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Reception / Front Desk
- Greet and check in patients in a professional and welcoming manner
- Schedule appointments and manage multi-provider calendars
- Verify insurance eligibility and collect copays
- Answer phones, route calls, and respond to patient inquiries
- Scan and maintain accurate patient records in the EHR system
- Coordinate referrals and obtain authorizations as needed
Optician / Optical Support
- Assist patients with frame and lens selection
- Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and eyewear benefits
- Measure, fit, adjust, and dispense eyewear
- Enter optical orders accurately and follow up on pending jobs
- Troubleshoot patient concerns related to glasses and contact lenses
- Maintain a clean, organized optical area
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Previous experience in a medical office, optometry, ophthalmology, or optical setting (preferred but not required)
- Optical experience preferred
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer skills and comfort learning new software
- Professional appearance and positive attitude
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time position
- Daytime hours (no evenings or major holidays)
