What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Engineer (Mid-Level Position) position at Prairie Engineering, P.C.?
Position Responsibilities
Our engineers and designers work closely with each project’s owner, architect, other engineering disciplines, and contractors to custom design systems that meet the client’s needs. They are responsible for their projects from the concept phase to providing support during the building’s operation phase.
- Ability to initiate, develop and maintain mutually beneficial client relationships.
- Apply mechanical engineering, codes, and standards knowledge to solve complex construction problems.
- Attend kick-off, coordination, and progress meetings.
- Coordinate project ideas, design, conflicts, etc. with all engineering disciplines, contractors, project managers, and clients.
- Utilize AutoCAD and Revit to draft mechanical and plumbing construction drawings, including floor plans, equipment details and piping diagrams.
- Coordinate with other engineering trades, including architectural, electrical, structural, and civil to ensure a complete and comprehensive mechanical design.
- Perform field visits/inspections during design and construction phases.
- Perform quality control and quality assurance techniques to ensure design meets current codes and standards. This includes IMC, energy and NFPA codes and specifications are implemented.
- Prepare mechanical construction drawings, technical reports, and specifications.
- Work toward keeping current tasks within schedule and budget to fit the needs of the project.
- Willingness to travel on day trips related to projects.
- Provide data, as required, for cost estimating and secure preliminary equipment costs for review.
- Review shop drawing documentation for compliance with project specifications.
- Maintain and utilize working knowledge of accepted mechanical engineering and plumbing design standards and practices in the execution of design work that will meet the clients' needs and conform to company standards.
- Participate in preparation of bid documents for all required projects.

Employment Type
This is a full-time mid-level position, with minimal travel and no overnight travel.
Compensation
Compensation is based on the candidate’s skill, education, and other qualifications. Annual salary increases and bonuses are based on the performance of PEPC and the employee. Paid time off includes holidays, sick leave, and vacation.
