Responsibilities
Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure clients comply with international tax laws, including overseeing the preparation and timely filing of international tax returns, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all documentation.
- Ensure compliance with local and international tax laws, including transfer pricing regulations and reporting requirements.
Advisory Services
- Provide strategic tax planning services to clients, helping them navigate complex international tax regulations and optimize their tax positions.
- Offer expert advice on cross-border transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and other business activities to minimize tax liabilities.
- Offer insights on the tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, helping to structure deals in a tax-efficient manner.
Research and Analysis
- Stay informed about changes in international tax legislation and assess their implications for clients, providing timely updates and recommendations.
Audit Support
- Prepare for and manage tax audits by gathering necessary documentation and liaising with tax authorities.
- Address any tax-related inquiries or disputes that arise during audits, working closely with external advisors when necessary.
Team Collaboration and Leadership
- Mentor and train junior staff on international tax matters, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable team environment.
- Lead and manage multiple client engagements, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality services.
Documentation and Record Keeping
- Maintain comprehensive records of client tax positions, strategies, and compliance efforts to support filings and audits.
- Assist in developing internal policies and procedures for the firm to ensure consistent application of international tax strategies.
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing regular updates on tax matters and ensuring their needs are met.
- Gather client feedback to continuously improve service delivery and address any concerns promptly.
Business Development
- Participate in industry events and networking opportunities to promote the firm’s international tax services and attract new clients.
- Assist in preparing proposals and presentations for potential clients, showcasing the firm’s expertise in international tax.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and a professional certification (e.g., CPA, JD or LLM).
- 4-7 years of experience in international tax is required.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and deliver high-quality service.
- In-depth understanding of international tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements, including transfer pricing and tax treaties.
- Strong analytical abilities to assess complex tax issues and develop strategic solutions. Familiarity with quantitative analyses, such as foreign tax credits and GILTI calculations.
- Proficiency in accounting and tax software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for explaining complex tax concepts to clients.
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities to guide junior staff and foster a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to think critically and strategically about tax implications related to business decisions.
- Willingness to stay updated on evolving tax laws and adapt strategies accordingly.
- A strong commitment to ethical standards and compliance with all regulatory requirements is crucial in maintaining client trust and firm reputation.
