Pain Medicine Nurse Practitioner Job with Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, AK

The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) is seeking a nurse practitioner or physician’s associate to join our Pain Management team at the Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC), an award-winning Level II Trauma Center. With over 30 medical specialties, ANMC serves as the tertiary referral center for Alaska Native and American Indian people across the state. Our unique patient population, breathtaking geography and cohesive team, make this a one-of-a-kind practice opportunity!

Working in collaboration with our pain management physician and two nurse practitioners you will work very closely with the hospitalists and anesthesiologists on our medical center campus. Responsibilities include: completing comprehensive histories and physical exams; ordering and interpreting tests; prescribing medications; developing treatment plans; and educating patients/families on treatment options, independently manage epidural and peripheral nerve catheters; assist with wound care and dressing changes.

Work Schedule: Full Time Monday through Friday; 8-hour day shifts – variable hours; no evenings, weekends or on-call required.

Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant; Certification as a Family Medicine or Adult/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner by an approved national certifying body; Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certification; State of Alaska Advanced Practice Nurse or PA License. Preferred 2 to 5 years’ post-graduate experience as a nurse practitioner or PA managing pain patients; genuine interest in pain management, astute clinical skills; superior communication and relationship building skills; flexible team player; culturally sensitive.
