This role involves leading a multidisciplinary team within a faith-based, not-for-profit health system dedicated to compassionate, high-quality care.
- Clinical Care: Manage patients with diseases affecting the abdomen, digestive tract, endocrine system, breast, skin, and blood vessels.
- Surgical Procedures: Perform a wide range of operations including hernias, gallstones, appendicitis, and cancer surgeries, often using minimally invasive and robotic techniques.
- Patient Management: Oversee the entire care cycle, including preoperative diagnosis, the surgical operation, and postoperative recovery and treatment.
- Collaborative Leadership: Act as the leader of the surgical team, partnering with cardiologists, radiologists, and other specialists to develop patient-centered treatment plans.
- Documentation: Utilize EPIC EMR for efficient patient management and clinical documentation.
- Academic Involvement: Surgeons may have opportunities to work with students and residents, contributing to the region's academic growth.
- Education: Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
- Training: Completion of an ACGME-accredited General Surgery residency program.
- Certification: Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Surgery.
- Licensure: Must possess or be eligible for an unrestricted Louisiana Medical License.
