Road Construction Superintendent

Job Summary
The Superintendent provides leadership to field crews, ensuring all asphalt grinding projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards. This position serves as the primary bridge between field operations and company leadership, driving production goals and optimizing equipment utilization across multiple jobsites.
Key Responsibilities
· Field Leadership: Oversee multiple milling crews, providing direct guidance to foremen and field personnel. Coordinate with prime contractors on times and priorities for milling jobsites.
· Project Scheduling: Coordinate with General Manager to develop short- and long-term "look ahead" schedules for manpower and equipment.
· Production Oversight: Monitor daily production rates and job costs to ensure projects meet or exceed expectations.
· Quality Control: Conduct site inspections to verify that grinding depths, slopes, patterns, and material quality meet project specifications.
· Safety Management: Enforce company safety protocols, conducting regular safety audits and investigating any incidents.
· Equipment Management: Coordinate with in-house mechanics to schedule maintenance and maximize the utilization of milling machines and support vehicles.
· Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the main point of contact for project managers, inspectors, and contractors to resolve on-site issues promptly.
Required Qualifications
· Experience: Minimum 7-10 years of experience in asphalt paving or heavy civil construction, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
· Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of asphalt milling techniques and equipment operation.
· Certifications: Valid driver's license (Class A CDL preferred).
· Education: High School Diploma or GED required; a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering is preferred.
· Physical Ability: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods in varying weather conditions, climb ladders and stairs.
Skills & Competencies
· Leadership: Proven ability to mentor and develop high-performing field teams.
· Problem-Solving: Strong aptitude for identifying potential bottlenecks and developing on-site strategies to overcome them. Must be able to make split decisions for any problems that may arise 24 hours a day.
· Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills for reporting progress to senior management and coordinating with subcontractors.
· Flexible Schedule: Ability and willingness to be available 24/7 if business needs arise.
· Tech Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Adobe Acrobat and project scheduling software.
Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
