Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled CNC Mill Set-Up Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for Setting up and operating CNC Horizonal and Vertical milling machines and ensuring precision in machine processes. This role requires a strong understanding of machine shop processes, mechanical blueprints, measurement tools, and CNC programming to produce high-quality metal components efficiently and accurately. Responsibilities:
- Operate CNC milling machines and related machining tools to produce complex metal parts according to specifications.
- Set up CNC milling machines by installing fixtures, tools, and editing programs using CNC G-code.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining requirements.
- Perform machine setup, calibration, and adjustments to ensure optimal operation and precision.
- Conduct quality inspections using measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and precision measuring instruments to verify part dimensions against blueprints.
- Utilize GD&T principles for accurate measurement and quality control of machined components.
- Troubleshoot machine issues, perform basic maintenance, and make necessary adjustments during production runs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols.
- Document production data and inspection results for quality records.
- Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
- Must be able to stand for 8-10 hours per day
- Must be a team player
Qualifications:
- 3 years of proven experience operating CNC milling machines
- Proficiency in CNC G-code programming, CAM programming, and Mastercam or CAD software is preferred.
- Strong understanding of mechanical blueprint reading and interpretation of mechanical blueprints.
- Knowledge of machining tools, manual machining techniques, and measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision instruments.
- Ability to interpret GD&T specifications for quality assurance purposes.
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform machine setup, calibration, and basic troubleshooting.
- Basic math skills necessary for measurements, calculations, and adjustments during machining processes.
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on precision measurement in machine operations.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
