PPS is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our team in Chandler. This role is responsible for producing precision components using manual machining processes while meeting quality, safety, and productivity expectations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, capable of reading complex blueprints, and accountable for accurate labor tracking and job completion.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform manual machining operations including drilling, tapping, reaming, countersinking, and counterboring.
• Set up and operate knee mills, rollers, and flex-arm drilling and tapping equipment.
• Read, interpret, and work from complex engineering blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
• Verify part dimensions and quality using precision measuring tools.
• Ensure all work meets UCT quality standards and customer specifications.
• Accurately track labor and log job completion in the labor tracking system.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
• Communicate effectively with leads, supervisors, and quality personnel regarding job status or issues.
• Support continuous improvement efforts related to quality, efficiency, and safety.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Proven experience as a manual machinist in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T.
• Hands-on experience with:
o Knee mills
o Rollers
o Flex-arm drilling and tapping equipment
• Proficient with precision measurement and inspection tools, including:
o Calipers
o Depth micrometers
o Squares
o Chamfer gauges
o Gauge pins
• Experience verifying parts to print and documenting results.
• Comfortable using computer-based labor tracking systems.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to manage time effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with semiconductor or precision fabrication industries.
• Prior experience working to tight tolerances.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
