PPL MOVIN is a Detroit-based media platform celebrating the voices, ideas, and culture that shape the city. Known for its candid, authentic conversations, often filmed aboard the Detroit People Mover, the platform showcases a diverse range of perspectives from artists, founders, organizers, and everyday voices.
Role Overview
We’re looking for a Social Media & Content Intern (Unpaid) to help us stay consistent and intentional with our content. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys shaping stories for social media, understands what makes clips engaging, and can take initiative in organizing and posting content. We already have strong, long-form conversations, but we need someone who can help turn those into impactful short-form content and keep our platforms active. This role is mostly remote, but you’re welcome to come hang with us in person when it makes sense and to see our interviewing process.
Responsibilities
- Review full-length PPL MOVIN episodes and identify standout moments
- Edit 1–3 short-form clips per episode (Reels, TikToks, Shorts)
- Add captions/subtitles to clips and longer videos
- Write engaging, on-brand captions for posts
- Create and manage a posting schedule
- Upload, post, and schedule content across platforms
- Help maintain consistency in tone, voice, and visual style
- Collaborate with the team on content direction and growth ideas
Ideal Candidates Are:
- Passionate about media, storytelling, and Detroit culture
- Familiar with short-form content trends and what performs well online
- Comfortable using editing tools (CapCut, Premiere, etc.) and captioning videos
- Strong writers with a good sense of voice and tone
- Organized, self-motivated, and reliable
- Interested in social media strategy, content, or digital media
