Lab and Waste Treatment Technician – Peru, IL

As a Lab and Waste Treatment Technician, at PPG Peru, IL, plant, you will be a crucial part of our operations, ensuring that a quality product is available to our customers when they need them. Your work will directly affect people’s lives!
Primary Responsibilities
- Monitor and control the operation of clarifier systems to ensure efficient separation of solids from wastewater.
- Adjust flow rates, chemical dosages, and other parameters to optimize performance.
- Conduct regular tests on water quality, including turbidity, pH, and solids concentration.
- Record and analyze data to identify trends and make necessary adjustments to processes.
- Perform routine maintenance on clarifier equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and repairs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues to minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Prepare and submit reports on clarifier performance and maintenance activities.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Participate in training programs to stay updated on best practices and new technologies in wastewater treatment.
- Work closely with other operators, engineers, and maintenance personnel to ensure the overall efficiency of the wastewater treatment process.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in water treatment or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in wastewater treatment or a related field is advantageous.
- Knowledge of clarifier operations, water quality testing, and environmental regulations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
