What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coatings Equipment Maintenance Specialist position at PPG?
As a Coatings Equipment Maintenance Specialist, you will assist with installation, troubleshooting, and repair of current and legacy Automotive OEM topcoat applications process equipment used by PPG Technical and Manufacturing sites, with a focus on the Cleveland facility. You will provide technical guidance to operators on safe operation of Topcoat Coat Painting Systems including the development and update of PPG Technical and Quality Assurance work manuals for paint application. You will report to the Applications Team Lead and work onsite at the Cleveland, OH plant.
The shift is Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Main Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all PPG Policies, Blueprint and Business Strategy goals including EH&S, Business Conduct, Code of Ethics, and all governmental regulations and laws.
- Provide support for Cleveland Technical and Spray Application Department equipment and ensure alignment with operation at other PPG Spray lab Facilities.
- Research and compare equipment used at OEM manufacturers against PPG systems and provide technical guidance or improvement to Application Spray labs.
- Become knowledgeable and provide as-needed application support for other PPG Facilities and assist with trouble shooting, repair and preventive maintenance of automated paint systems.
- Keep PPG technologies matched with new equipment trends through PPG internal updates of engineering market advancements. Share data with Manufacturing & Technical to provide continuous improvement to laboratory development cycles and quality assurance product testing.
- Maintain general mechanical knowledge and principles of the installation, operation and troubleshooting of application systems and spray atomizers.
- Continuous learning of internal and external spray equipment and create new ideas or revise current practices for a more efficient operation
- Assist in designing engineering experiments, completing regulatory documents concerning safety issues, finishing projects within provided timeline
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and related software; CAD experience a plus.
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior engineers/technicians.
- Knowledge of general mechanical and electrical repair.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
- Up to 25% travel may be required.
