What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aerospace Quality Assurance Inspector position at PPG - North America?
Join our Avon, MA team as an Aerospace Quality Assurance Inspector. You will be the final gatekeeper for materials and products that go into aircraft around the world.
Compensation & Schedule- Pay: $24.00 hourly
- Day shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00am–2:30pm
- Overtime and occasional weekends as needed
You start by reviewing job travelers and specifications, then move to the floor to examine incoming raw materials. Through the day, you rotate between visual and dimensional checks on in-process components, confirm calibration status for gauges, log results in our ERP, and release finished goods that meet spec. You wrap up with housekeeping, proper disposition of nonconforming material, and a quick huddle to share observations with production and engineering.
What you will do- Inspect raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products per SOPs, drawings, and industry standards.
- Perform visual and dimensional tests; document findings with precise, auditable records.
- Calibrate or verify calibration status of inspection equipment; escalate any out-of-tolerance conditions.
- Maintain orderly work areas and ensure proper disposition of material and product.
- Promote an inclusive, team-centered culture and model safe work practices, including consistent PPE use.
- Balance priorities, manage time effectively, and drive throughput without sacrificing quality.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 2 years in laboratory, inspection, or related quality work preferred.
- Meticulous attention to detail; able to follow written instructions and collaborate in a dynamic setting.
- Self-directed with strong prioritization; sees tasks through to completion.
- Comfort identifying issues, communicating them clearly, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Digital fluency with ERP systems (QAD preferred) and Microsoft Office.
