Aerospace Analytical Lab Chemist
At PPG Industries, Inc., we are seeking an experienced analytical chemistry professional to join our team in Mojave, California. This role will involve supporting the entire site with analytical skills and contributing to the advancement of aerospace technology through the lens of analytical chemistry.
Responsibilities:
- Chromatography: Proficient in Agilent GC systems, including calibration, sample preparation, and compositional analysis
- Spectroscopy: Experienced in FTIR (ATR and Crystal Transmittance) for liquid and solid samples, elemental spectroscopy in ICP, including sample digestion, and calibration methods
- Moisture Content Analysis: Knowledgeable in Vapor Pro - Ametek
- Wet Chemistry: Proficient in Metrohm automatic titrators for Karl Fischer titration, functional group titration, and ion analysis
- Problem Solving: Facilitate resolution of technical issues, coordinate experiments, compile and analyze data concerning coatings, sealants, polymers, and resins
- Method Development and Validation: Read and apply complex ASTM and industry standard test methods, develop PPG methods in collaboration with S&T
- Lab Assistance: Conduct and support material testing using various analytical instruments, techniques, and troubleshoot unfamiliar machines
- Equipment Research: Investigate lab equipment and applications, provide information to management as needed
Qualifications:
- One (1) year of related chemistry field or academic experience required
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field required
- Previous manufacturing experience preferred
- Must be able to wear required PPE with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
