What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Assistant position at PPD&G?
Are you the person people turn to when something breaks, a computer won’t cooperate, or nobody can figure out how something works?
Do you enjoy working with your hands, learning new technology, and solving problems? We’re looking for someone who wants to turn that curiosity and technical ability into a career.
You’ll work directly alongside our Production Manager, learning how to operate equipment, troubleshooting problems, coordinating production, and keep a busy operation moving. No prior production experience is required. We will fully train the right person.
Who we’re looking for
You don’t need to be an engineer, but you should think like one: ask questions, break problems down, and want to understand why something works.
You could be a great fit if you:
- Are comfortable with computers and pick up new software quickly.
- Use and explore AI tools to research, learn, troubleshoot, and work more efficiently—and know to check the answers.
- Are handy and mechanically curious. You enjoy building, fixing, adjusting, or figuring things out.
- Like learning new machines and technologies and understanding how to use them well.
- Take initiative. When you see something that needs attention, you get involved, ask thoughtful questions, and follow through.
- Are willing to roll up your sleeves. This is an active, hands-on role in a busy production environment.
- Care about the details and take pride in doing work correctly.
- Want a long-term career with the opportunity to earn greater responsibility as your skills develop.
Your experience might come from a job, school, a workshop, or projects you’ve tackled on your own. Fixing a bike, building a computer, experimenting with 3D printing, or teaching yourself a new program can all demonstrate the kind of curiosity we value.
What you’ll do
- Assist the Production Manager with day-to-day production activities and priorities.
- Learn to set up, operate, and care for production equipment safely.
- Help troubleshoot equipment and production issues under guidance.
- Use computers, software, and AI tools to support production and problem-solving.
- Help organize materials, prepare jobs, check quality, and keep work moving.
- Build the knowledge and judgment to take on increasingly complex work.
What we offer
- Full training and direct mentorship from our Production Manager.
- Practical experience with equipment, technology, and real production challenges.
- The opportunity to contribute ideas and see the results of your work.
- A path to greater responsibility as you learn, contribute, and demonstrate what you can do.
We’re hiring for potential, curiosity, and work ethic. You won’t be expected to know everything on day one. You will be expected to show up ready to learn, work hard, and become someone the team can count on.
