Duties
- Perform pet grooming services including bathing, trimming, brushing, and styling to meet client specifications and breed standards
- Handle animals with care, ensuring their safety and comfort during grooming procedures
- Assist with dog training activities and reinforce positive behaviors during grooming sessions
- Restrain animals safely using appropriate animal handling techniques and equipment
- Maintain cleanliness of grooming tools, stations, and work areas to ensure a hygienic environment
- Provide pet care advice to owners regarding grooming routines, pet health, and hygiene best practices
- Support veterinary staff with basic animal handling or restraint as needed during procedures or examinations
Experience
- Prior experience in pet grooming or animal handling is highly preferred
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and veterinary procedures is a strong plus
- Experience working with animals such as dogs, cats, or horses demonstrates versatility in animal handling
- Background in veterinary technician or assistant roles provides valuable insight into animal health and safety protocols
- Familiarity with kennel operations or pet sitting enhances your ability to manage various pet care situations
- Strong customer service skills to communicate effectively with pet owners and address their needs
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for equipment or large animals
