Pre-Press Plate Technician
Position Summary

Using advanced digital tools, you’ll help transform artwork into high-precision print plates that drive production of our customers’ packaging and materials.

Responsibilities and Duties
Note: This description serves as a guide for typical duties. Your supervisor may assign additional responsibilities as needed to support production and customer needs.
- Update plate schedules, usage, and waste tracking as plates are produced.
- Review customer specifications and accurately set up print layouts using Flexo software.
- Align photo-negative film to be etched on the laser with precision.
- Inspect films at each stage for quality and completeness; correct and rework as needed.
- Handle flexible print plates carefully—position, laminate, and process them without damage.
- Transfer images from negatives to plates using proper exposure settings and processes.
- Wash, dry, and finish plates to exacting standards for production use.
- Package and label completed plates for timely delivery to the pressroom or customer.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Restock plate materials and supplies for the next shift or upcoming orders.
- Collaborate with team members to meet deadlines and continuously improve efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail—accuracy matters at every step.
- Computer literacy, including email and basic data entry.
- At least one (1) year of industrial or machine operation experience preferred.
- Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions and customer specifications.
- Adaptable and flexible—able to adjust to changing production priorities.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Experience working in a team environment that values continuous improvement is a plus.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and handle materials up to 20 lbs safely.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during a shift.
- Willingness to work overtime as production demands require.
- Must have the dexterity to bend, reach, and maneuver around equipment.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
