What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director of Nursing position at Poydras Home?
Qualifications Include:
- Hold a current Louisiana nursing license, preferably RN, with at least two years in nursing management.
- Maintain a current BCLS certificate.
- Five years nursing experience preferred
Job Specific Duties Include:
- Directs and supervises the nursing department
- Assists with the development of nursing policies and procedures and disseminates responsibilities accordingly
- Assigns duties, supervises and evaluates work performance of all nursing staff
- Directs nursing care of residents. Assures staff are implementing care plans, performing activities appropriately and recognizing changes in residents’ status
- Coordinates with other members of Interdisciplinary Team and personnel of other departments in providing for residents' total needs
- Identifies and corrects nursing care issues
- Performs daily visits to residents to ensure maximum care and to ascertain need for additional or modified services
- Supervises maintenance of medical records by the Nursing Clerk

- Education and Staff In-Services – includes training for individual departments, Poydras Home, and Green House Project

- In the event of a hurricane or other disaster or emergency situation, is required to be part of the Disaster Team. Depending on Disaster Team assignment, may be required to shelter in place or evacuate with the Residents and staff to the designated primary or secondary evacuation locations as per the Emergency Preparedness Disaster Policy.
