What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sign Installer position at Poyant Signs?
A Sign Installer is responsible for the successful transportation and installation of a variety of sign types. A Sign Installer is required to review approved drawings and ensure that all signage meets the drawing specifications for each project, prepare each sign for mounting, and manage the placement and installation of each sign as required.
A successful sign installer is detail oriented, will demonstrate precision, is knowledgeable about the many different sign types and possess a sound understanding of the applicable construction and installation techniques.
Sign Installer Responsibilities:
• Successfully transport all signage, tools, hardware, and materials to the location safely.
• Preparing the site for installation by setting up a secure perimeter, removing old signage (if required), preparing the surface or structure for new signage, and securing the electrical connections, per NEC/AHJ.
• Ensuring the effective measurement, placement, connection, and installation of all signage.
• Mounting and installing all signs in accordance with all safety protocols.
• Clearing debris and materials from the site after each installation.
• Clearing debris and materials from company vehicles after each installation.
• Performing maintenance and repairs to signs, as needed.
• Operating and maintaining the tools and equipment in accordance with safety protocols.
• Maintaining all necessary communication with the Project Coordinator, and Director of Operations. This includes properly taking completion photos and emailing them accordingly, via company phone and or provided tablet.
• Properly completing all required paperwork as it pertains to driver logs, vehicle inspections (DVIR), daily boom inspections, work order and timecards daily.
• Obtaining and maintaining all required licenses in a timely manner as set forth by the company.
Sign Installer Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least two years' experience as a sign installer or similar.
- Valid CDL, Class B, or ability to obtain one. A clean driving record is a must.
- Massachusetts & Rhode Island Sign Crane Licenses are a plus.
- Knowledge of electrical wiring, metal fabrication and welding are a plus.
- Good knowledge of various types of signs including but not limited to vinyl, channel letters, pylons, and monuments.
- A sound understanding of the applicable installation methods, materials, and safety measures.
- The ability to operate hand and power tools.
- Physically fit and able to perform strenuous labor including lifting, climbing, working at various heights.
- Able to work at various heights in the air without concern.
- The ability to work in harsh weather conditions. (When applicable)
- Willingness to work during evenings, weekends, and overnights (including per diem) as needed.
