Summary
The JROTC Instructor is responsible for planning, delivering, and managing the JROTC program in accordance with U.S. Department of Defense regulations, specific JROTC directives, school board policies, and PCPS procedures. The instructor provides instruction that will promote citizenship, character, personal responsibility, leadership and academic achievement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver JROTC curriclum aligned with service branch requirements and school division instructional expectations.
- Maintain compliance with all Department of Defense, service-specific JROTC regulations, and school division policies.
- Responsible for the order and progress of classes under his/her authority, direction and supervision.
- Establish and maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful classroom and training environment.
- Supervise before and afterschool teams as required.
- Document program activities and provide reports in compliance with national and local JROTC guidelines.
- Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate grading, attendance, and participation records in accordance with school procedures.
- Maintain productive working relationships with instructional and administrative personnel to promote student success.
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence, by keeping abreast of current educational trends.
- Support school and division iniatives, events, and activities as appropriate.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned by the school administration, Superintendent, or designee.
Qualifications
Must have a Bachelor's Degree and must be at least the rank of Captain, retired from the United States Army with at least fifteen years of active military service. Must have the knowledge and experience of systematically planning, executing and evaluating individual and group instruction. Must have effective organization and management of classroom and outside the classroom instructional environments.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university.
Language Skills
Must have excellent oral and written communication and public relations skills.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of parents or public.
Reasoning/Other Abilities
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Physical Demands
Work involves operation of office equipment and limited physical tasks. Above-average amount of walking, bending, standing, stooping, and lifting in a classroom environment.

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of licensed personnel.
