Job Title: Computer Technician

Reports to: Director of Administrative Technology
Summary
The computer technician will install, maintain and repair computers and networks. The computer technician acts as the initial point of contact for all computer and network system related concerns from students, teachers or other staff members. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and accurately and will possess a great problem-solving ability in order to fix issues and ensure functionality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
- Respond to incoming work orders submitted through the work order system
- Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of desktop or laptop problems for end-users, and implement corrective solutions
- Update and maintain the computer inventory and equipment system
- Assist with purchase and inventory of technology equipment and consumables
- Provide logistical support for new computers and peripherals (physical setup & distribution)
- Prepare and support technology for online testing
- Perform administrative duties. These include but may not be limited to maintenance and creation of user accounts, email accounts, access rights, and distribution of consumables (toner cartridges, etc.)
- Install and maintain local and network printers and software
- Assist with the management of mobile labs
- Perform basic network troubleshooting such as cable problems and TCP/IP related issues.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Superintendent, or designee.
Qualifications
Basic knowledge of computer operating systems, including MS Windows, and Chrome OS.
Basic knowledge of Windows Server Operating Systems, including Active Directory
Excellent technical and customer service skills
Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity problems to successful conclusion
Minimum one (1) year experience in installing, upgrading, troubleshooting and maintaining computer hardware and software
Experience with LAN/WAN networks helpful.
Experience with G-Suite platform highly preferred.
Able to work independently with limited supervision
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or GED- some college preferred- or six to twelve months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Industry standard certifications are strongly encouraged, but not required.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and technical bulletins. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
