The Distribution Engineer I is responsible for learning and applying the engineering design, cost estimation, project coordination, and field inspection of electric power distribution projects. This role collaborates with other departments and delivers cost-effective, safe, and high-quality solutions for our clients, which aim to comply with industry standards and best practices.

Engineering & Project Management
- Learn to design, estimate, and coordinate the construction of overhead and underground power distribution systems for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
- Learn to lead and manage "Capital" and "O&M" projects through all phases of development, from concept to closeout.
- Learn to identify and implement innovative engineering solutions to improve system reliability, cost-efficiency, and safety.
- Learn and practice the company’s safety culture, consistently applying the highest standards for personal and team safety practices.
- Seek guidance and ensure his engineering work product meets internal quality standards and complies with regulatory guidelines.
- Learn and develop the ability to interpret and apply construction bulletins, standards, and engineering procedures.
- Stay current with evolving industry trends and participate in ongoing training and certification programs.

- Participates during recommendations and engineering modifications which ensure system integrity and code adherence.
- Learn how to prepare accurate project documentation, reports, and technical analysis.
- Maintain records related to project progress, cost, and compliance.
- Serve as a primary technical contact for client stakeholders, ensuring responsiveness and technical excellence corresponding to the level of expertise associated to the position.
- Address client concerns with professionalism and provide clear, actionable solutions.
- Learn how to build and maintain good client partnerships that support long-term engagement and satisfaction.
Attributes/Abilities
- Must have a satisfactory background/MVR check.
- Must pass a pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and/or random drug test.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Possess verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of customer tools such as: JETS, GIS, SOCKET, TCMS & DistView is preferred.
- Knowledge of NEC, NESC, Distribution Bulletins, Engineering Handbook, Distribution Specifications, Distribution Operating Procedures, ARC Flash Requirements, Metering Blue Book & Franchise Manual is preferred.
- Basic customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or part of a team.
- Basic project management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Acrobat.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or General) preferred.
- 0-1 years of progressive engineering experience.
- EIT or PE license preferred.
- Basic technical skills and familiarity with industry standards.
- Ability to work safely around electrical and mechanical hazards.
- Operates light measuring instruments.
- Potential minimum exposure to various conditions, including dirt, heat, fumes, smoke, water, noise, vibration, grease, oil, and dust.
- Requires field work in industrial environments.
- Ability and willingness to work occasional excess straight time as needed.
- May require travel 25% of the time.
