This role involves leading a team of commissioning engineers and technicians, coordinating with project managers, and ensuring the successful execution of commissioning activities. Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervises commissioning engineers and technicians.
Commissioning Management
- Oversee the entire commissioning process for projects, including planning, execution, and closeout.
- Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules.
- Ensure that all commissioning activities are conducted in accordance with industry standards and client requirements.
- Lead and manage a team of commissioning engineers and technicians, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities for team members.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the commissioning team.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of commissioning activities into the overall project timeline.
- Communicate project status, issues, and solutions to stakeholders and clients.
- Ensure that commissioning activities are aligned with project goals and objectives.
- Develop and implement testing and validation protocols for various systems and components.
- Oversee the execution of functional performance tests, system integration tests, and other validation activities.
- Ensure that all systems and components meet operational requirements and performance specifications.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of commissioning activities, test results, and other relevant documentation.
- Prepare and present commissioning reports to clients and senior management.
- Ensure that all documentation is in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that all commissioning activities adhere to quality assurance and compliance standards.
- Identify and address any issues or deficiencies in the commissioning process.
- Implement corrective actions and process improvements as needed.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
- Provide technical support and expertise to clients throughout the commissioning process.
- Address client concerns and issues promptly and professionally.
- Ensure that all commissioning activities are conducted in accordance with health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Promote a culture of safety within the commissioning team.
Attributes/Abilities
- Must have a satisfactory background/MVR check.
- Must pass a pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and/or random drug test.
- Ability to multi-task and effectively manage time in a dynamic environment while maintaining flexibility under changing demands.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics.
- Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to questions from diverse groups with varying levels of technical expertise.
- Ability to resolve issues and to develop solutions to emergencies quickly.
- Familiar with the use and application of various test equipment and associated software systems.
- Capability to comprehend overarching issues and integrate them seamlessly with both long-term objectives and daily tasks.
- Strong understanding and application of mathematical concepts, such as engineering formulas and complex variables.
- Knowledge to apply electrical engineering protection and controls concepts to practical situations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, or a related field preferred.
- 10 years of hands-on commissioning experience commissioning data centers with both electrical and mechanical experience, with at least 2 years of proven experience in managing commissioning projects and leading teams.
- Ability to obtain an OSHA 30 certification.
- Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) and OSHA Electrical Safe Work Practices.
- Knowledge of ASHRAE standard for Mechanical system testing in Data Centers.
- Knowledge of use, limitations, and maintenance of all Personal Protective Equipment.
- Combination of office and field work environment with frequent travel to project sites (throughout the United States); must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and must be insurable.
- May require working in various environmental conditions, including construction sites, operational facilities, and energized equipment.
