Senior Structural Engineer

Powerwell is a leading recruitment firm helping our clients discover top talent. We are recruiting for a Senior Structural Engineer (10-15 Years). Candidates must be a United States Citizen or Green Card Holder. Candidates must be able to work a hybrid work schedule out of our client's Fulton, MD office. There is no option for a fully remote work schedule. Candidates must have an active Professional Engineer (PE) License as well as prior proven experience with Business Development (BD/BDM).

Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with ten to fifteen years of experience for our client’s DC Metro office. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity within a dynamic and progressive firm. The successful individual will work closely with our client’s business development team and other discipline leaders in developing technical proposals and will take a proactive role in marketing/business development. This role provides the opportunity to help build and mentor a dedicated team of engineering professionals within a collaborative multidiscipline office. This candidate will be working directly with client’s clients providing consulting services.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the design of steel, concrete, and masonry commercial/institutional, federal and industrial buildings, both in new and existing construction, utility infrastructure, roadways, erosion control measures and coordinating multifaceted projects. Qualifications:

Essential Engineering Skills and Functions:

• Perform the following functions:
• structural analysis, design, and detailing on a variety of commercial & industrial projects.
• Design of steel, concrete, and masonry commercial/institutional, federal and Industrial buildings, both in new and existing construction.
• Design experience with light gage steel and timber is a plus.
• Strong ability to interpret technical drawings.
• Lead design team efforts.
• Manage project team for budget and schedule control.
• Develop fee and qualification-based proposals.
• Collaborate with the architect, owner, and contractor to provide a well-coordinated and high-quality set of structural drawings.
• Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities.
• Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint software preferred. Must understand database concepts. Working knowledge of marketing databases and proposal resources files.
• Conduct marketing/business development activities
• Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale.
• Ability to travel
• Work closely with other client offices, such as Raleigh, Atlanta structural groups to complete projects and tasks.

Education/Experience/Qualifications:

• B.S. degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program required.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE).
• 10 to 15 years of structural engineering experience.
• Experience with computer software programs and analysis systems (such as RISA, AutoCAD, Revit, RamSS, Etabs, Enercalc).
• Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and time management skills.
• Project Management experience and/or certifications.
• Desire to lead inter-disciplinary projects and project teams.
• Local AHJ experience and relationships is a plus.
• Active local industry involvement is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Approximate Base Salary – $100K-$150K
• Salary will be determined based on qualifications and relevant experience.
• Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate.
• Competitive end-of-year discretionary bonus based on company/team/personal performance.
• Hybrid Work Schedule (subject to change).
• 401k with maximum of 5% Contribution Matching for 9% Employee Contribution.
