The company combines advanced autonomy, manufacturing capability, operational expertise, and strategic acquisitions to support defense, national security, critical infrastructure, and commercial operations globally.

Mission

Our mission is to deliver resilient autonomous technologies that strengthen national security, improve operational safety, and expand the capabilities of organizations operating in complex environments.

Why Join Powerus

Powerus is entering a significant period of operational growth, corporate development, and organizational scaling. As the company expands across multiple entities, manufacturing activities, and federal engagements, disciplined configuration control, accurate product data, and scalable change management are becoming increasingly important. This is an opportunity to own meaningful day-to-day configuration management work and help build the engineering backbone of a fast-moving company.

About the Role

The Configuration Management Specialist establishes, maintains, and controls product configurations, engineering documentation, bills of materials (BOMs), revisions, and change management processes across the product lifecycle. You will ensure the integrity, traceability, and accuracy of product data across engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and customer requirements — serving as a critical link between Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management so that all product changes are properly documented, approved, communicated, and implemented.

Responsibilities

Configuration Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain configuration management processes and procedures.
  • Manage product structures, BOMs, part numbers, revisions, and configuration records.
  • Ensure configuration data accuracy throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Maintain product baselines and configuration status accounting records.
  • Verify consistency between engineering documentation, ERP systems, and manufacturing records.

Engineering Change Management

  • Administer Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Orders (ECOs), and Notices (ECNs).
  • Coordinate change review meetings and approval workflows.
  • Assess the impact of engineering changes on manufacturing, inventory, quality, suppliers, and customers.
  • Ensure timely implementation and communication of approved changes.
  • Monitor change effectiveness and implementation status.

Document Control

  • Maintain controlled engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure proper document revision control and archival processes.
  • Manage document release and distribution activities.
  • Support compliance with document retention policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain electronic document management systems.

Product Data Management

  • Manage part numbering systems and product identification standards.
  • Maintain product lifecycle management (PLM) and ERP system data.
  • Perform audits of BOMs, routings, and engineering records to ensure accuracy.
  • Support new product introductions by establishing configuration records and documentation structures.
  • Coordinate product data updates across multiple business systems.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management teams.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Assist with customer configuration requirements and documentation requests.
  • Provide training on configuration management processes and best practices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Compliance & Auditing

  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Conduct configuration audits and documentation reviews.
  • Support ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF 16949, FDA, or other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Develop corrective actions for configuration discrepancies.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience) required.

Experience

  • 3–6 years in configuration management, document control, or product data management within a manufacturing or engineering environment preferred.
  • Experience administering engineering change processes (ECR/ECO/ECN).
  • Experience supporting new product introductions and cross-functional teams.

Technical skills

  • Proficiency with PLM systems (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter, Arena) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
  • Strong understanding of BOM structures, part numbering, and revision control.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Document control and records management practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Soft skills

  • Highly detail-oriented and organized, with strong data accuracy discipline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple functions and manage competing priorities.
  • Process-driven with a continuous-improvement mindset.

Preferred Skills

  • CMII (Institute of Configuration Management) certification.
