PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, headquartered in Andalusia, AL, is a generation and transmission (G&T) electric cooperative with 22 distribution members - 18 electric distribution systems and four municipal electric systems - in Alabama and northwest Florida. JOB SUMMARY & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The purpose of this position is to provide uninterrupted, full-capacity performance of PowerSouth's computer systems. This includes low user impact servers, appliances, desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices, etc. In addition, this position assists users with the use of technology by performing functions such as help desk, trouble-shooter, and trainer, as well as ensures security of end-user devices by proper setup and configuration. This position keeps complete hardware and software inventories to assist with reports and software compliance. This position requires an Associate degree in Information Technology (Electronics, Computer Science) or a closely related area. In lieu of an Associate degree, the incumbent must have a minimum of three (3) years of relative experience. The incumbent must have technical knowledge about computer systems, electronic systems, networks, and software applications and must be able to educate others, answer questions, and troubleshoot any related problems about technology-based products and services. The incumbent must have ability to use judgment, discretion, initiative, cooperativeness, and creativity including ability to visualize abstract concepts. This position requires the ability to use various research tools, volt-ohm meter, Network Cable testers, and various power and hand tools (drills, saws, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.) to repair technology-based problems.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Configures, maintains, and troubleshoots end-user computer systems, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs low user impact servers and appliances; performs systems administration tasks related to user account maintenance, disk management, system performance monitoring, and system backups. These systems are used for inventory of active computers, software compliance, and help desk operations.
- Implements security techniques, practices, and methods used to safeguard network and technology device.
- Maintains and organizes warehouse storage for new systems and complete inventory of computer parts in order to provide immediate access to replacement systems and parts.
- Ability to troubleshoot network equipment and interoffice computer wiring system to provide timely availability of network circuits.
- Responsible for ensuring the success of PowerSouth by promoting team work, group goals and objectives, proper communication and cooperation within the department, division, throughout the PowerSouth organization and with member systems.
