Powers Taylor LLP is a boutique plaintiff litigation firm in Dallas focused on medical malpractice, catastrophic injury, and wrongful death cases across Texas. We are looking for a licensed attorney who is eager to learn, motivated to advocate for injured clients, and excited to grow into a trial lawyer.
This is not a “sit in the back and review documents for two years” position.
Our associates work directly with experienced trial attorneys on meaningful, high-stakes cases that make a real difference for Texas families. You’ll gain hands-on litigation experience early, including drafting pleadings, attending depositions, preparing cases for trial, working with experts, and participating in strategy discussions from day one.
What You'll Do:
- Manage a caseload of medical malpractice and personal injury claims.
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies.
- Draft comprehensive legal documents, including pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and correspondence.
- Negotiate settlements with insurance companies and opposing counsel to maximize client benefits.
- Represent clients in settlement negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings when necessary.
- Collaborate with experts such as medical professionals and accident reconstruction specialists to build strong cases.
- Maintain detailed case files, track deadlines, and ensure compliance with all legal procedures and regulations.
- Hands-on litigation and courtroom experience.
- Direct mentorship from experienced trial attorneys.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience in personal injury law with a strong understanding of litigation processes.
- Excellent legal research skills utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other research platforms.
- Strong writing skills for drafting clear, persuasive legal documents.
- Effective negotiation skills to secure favorable outcomes for clients.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
