Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our preconstruction team and play a critical role in our continued growth. Key Responsibilities
Project Analysis & Estimation
Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop comprehensive and accurate cost estimates
Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services
Evaluate project scope, timeline, and complexity to identify potential risks and opportunities
Develop competitive yet profitable bid proposals that align with company standards and client expectations
Vendor & Subcontractor Management
Solicit and evaluate bids from qualified subcontractors and suppliers
Build and maintain strong relationships with trade partners and vendors
Negotiate pricing and terms to optimize project profitability while maintaining quality standards
Conduct thorough bid analysis and provide recommendations for subcontractor selection
Market Intelligence & Strategy
Stay current with local market conditions, material pricing trends, and labor costs
Monitor competitor activities and pricing strategies in the Indianapolis market
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations
Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and standards
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with project managers, superintendents, and operations teams to ensure estimating accuracy
Present estimates and recommendations to senior management and clients
Support business development efforts through accurate and timely proposal preparation
Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing initiatives
Required Qualifications
Experience & Education
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 3 years of commercial construction estimating experience
Proven track record with projects ranging from $1M to $50M in value
Technical Skills
Proficiency in estimating software (experience with Building Connected, ProEst, or similar platforms preferred)
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and construction-specific applications
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings and specifications

Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the Indianapolis/Central Indiana construction market
Knowledge of local building codes, permitting processes, and regulatory requirements
Professional certifications (AACE, ASPE, or similar)
Experience with lean construction principles and collaborative project delivery
Background in multiple construction sectors (commercial, industrial, healthcare, education)
