What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fitness Equipment Service Technician – Part Time position at Powerop Business Systems?
This is a contract/gig opportunity, not a full-time position.
We’re looking for mechanically inclined service professionals who want to earn extra income while expanding their skills into fitness equipment repair.
This can be a great fit for mechanics, service technicians, maintenance technicians, or anyone with hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electromechanical equipment, such as cars, machinery, appliances, or similar equipment.
You do not need to be an experienced fitness equipment technician. If you are comfortable working with your hands, diagnosing problems, and figuring out how mechanical and electrical systems work, many of those skills can transfer to servicing treadmills, strength machines, and other fitness equipment.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain fitness equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine equipment inspections.
- Identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues.
- Repair or replace components such as belts, motors, sensors, wiring, and other parts as needed.
- Use basic diagnostic tools to identify equipment problems.
- Document work completed and report any additional repairs or parts needed.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding service findings and repairs.
- Follow proper safety procedures while performing service work.
- Manage assigned service calls and complete work independently.
Experience & Qualifications
- Hands-on experience repairing, maintaining, or troubleshooting mechanical or electromechanical equipment.
- Experience as a mechanic, service technician, maintenance technician, equipment technician, or in a similar hands-on trade is a strong fit.
- Fitness equipment repair experience is helpful but not required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems and electrical troubleshooting is preferred.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, or diagnostic/testing equipment.
- Comfortable learning how to service different types and brands of fitness equipment.
- Able to work independently and responsibly at customer locations.
- Reliable transportation to travel to assigned service calls.

Pay: $55.00 - $75.00 per hour
