Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to various departments (e.g., radiology, surgery, discharge).
- Assist patients in and out of transport vehicles, beds, and wheelchairs as needed.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety during transport, including proper use of restraints and equipment.
- Deliver medical records, specimens, medications, and equipment between departments.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of transport equipment.
- Respond promptly to transport requests via hospital communication systems.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, patients, and other hospital personnel.
- Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service setting preferred.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
- Ability to lift and move patients and equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Fast-paced hospital setting.
- Frequent walking, standing, and lifting.
- Exposure to patients with various medical conditions.
