The Permitting Technician is responsible for supporting the permitting and licensing team by coordinating with local agencies, gathering documentation, and ensuring compliance with applicable permitting requirements. This role requires close collaboration with project managers, subcontractors, and municipal contacts to support construction and maintenance work across multiple jurisdictions.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in obtaining proper licenses and permits from local and national regulatory agencies.
  • Accurately review and process documentation needed for license applications, renewals, and updates.
  • Work with local agencies and jurisdictions to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Communicate with Project Managers and field personnel to ensure timely acquisition of permits for construction and rollout projects across the U.S.
  • Track and monitor expiration dates for permits and licenses to ensure timely renewals.
  • Ensure required Certificates of Insurance (COIs) are complete, current, and compliant with contract specifications.
  • Upload and maintain documentation in project tracking systems and shared databases.
  • Act as a central point of contact for permit-related inquiries, documentation requests, and general project coordination related to licensing.
  • Assist in maintaining clear and professional communication with internal teams, subcontractors, and permitting offices.
  • Support Permit Manager and team with administrative and clerical tasks as assigned.


Education, Experience, and Training:

  • Associate degree in Business, Construction Management, or related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Prior experience in construction, facilities, or permitting is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills required.


Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Comfortable using shared file platforms and project management systems.
  • Ability to quickly learn permitting or work order management software.
  • Excel experience should include data entry, sorting/filtering, and basic formulas.


WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position works in an environment with moderate noise level. (Examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as telephone. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 20 pounds. Ability to read and understand work instructions.
