Job Summary
The Safety Specialist is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment (data center) by identifying hazards, conducting safety inspections, implementing safety policies, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role works closely with employees and management to prevent workplace injuries and support continuous safety improvement.
Responsibilities
· Perform regular, on-site crew audits and communication / track findings.
· Develop, implement, and maintain workplace safety programs and procedures.
· Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses.
· Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
· Deliver safety training and orientation programs for employees.
· Assist in verifying and tracking safety training certifications of all field employees on multiple third-party platforms.
· Ensure at all times that Safety standards, site-specific training, enhanced/special PPE requirements are adhered to.
· Participate in conducting approved training by management.
· Assist in managing drug screens for project compliance on an as needed basis. Provide guidance to leadership on how to manage abnormal results of drug screens on employees. Provide up to date best practices on drug screening processes.
· Immediately report all field related incidents (Near Miss, First Aid, Accident, Safety Violations, OSHA/MSHA Inspections, Motor Vehicle Accidents, Non-compliant Drug Screens, etc.)
· Attend weekly safety team meetings.
· Provide updates relating to recently completed, on-going, and upcoming projects (manpower counts, required training, enhanced/special PPE requirements, etc.) as needed.
· Work with others on the safety team to identify potential hazards or concerns.
· Participate in creating plans to proactively reduce or eliminate safety hazards/incidents.
Qualifications
· Associate’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (preferred)
· Previous experience in workplace safety, risk management, or compliance
· Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
· Ability to use personal computer and software applications.
· Ability to work independently.
· Basic knowledge of safety prevention programs
· Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT regulations
· Basic knowledge of safety & environmental auditing, incident investigation, and reporting
· Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Requirements
· Communication Skills – clear written and verbal instructions and notes are essential.
· Must have great organizational skills and the ability to priorities duties to ensure on time completion of each task.
· Working Knowledge – must develop the knowledge of our project needs and apply safety standards.
· Must be skilled in MS Office
· Must possess ability to learn safety and compliance software.
· Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently.
Working Conditions
· Work is performed in field, mobile and office environment and requires the ability to operate in a hybrid function.
· Consists of active work. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
· Substantial movements of the hands, wrists, and/or fingers.
· Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analysing data and figures or viewing a computer screen.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
