Role Description The Human Resources Assistant is a part-time, on-site role based in Durham, NC, supporting day-to-day HR operations in a fast-paced preclinical research environment. Responsibilities include assisting with employee onboarding and offboarding, maintaining personnel records and HRIS data, and supporting benefits enrollment and changes. The role also helps coordinate training sessions, tracks attendance and completion, and assists with HR communications and documentation. Additional tasks may involve scheduling interviews, supporting new hire orientation logistics, and responding to routine employee inquiries while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in Human Resources (HR) support roles, with an understanding of core HR principles and practices.
- Skills in HR Management and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) to maintain accurate employee records and support data-driven HR processes.
- Experience with Benefits Administration, including assisting with enrollments, changes, and employee questions.
- Ability to support Training activities, such as coordinating sessions, tracking completion, and maintaining training documentation.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and confidential approach to sensitive information.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., MS Office or Google Workspace); HR or payroll system experience is an advantage.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Prior experience in a research, healthcare, or scientific organization is a plus.
