About the role:

The Electrician Level III is an advanced apprenticeship position for individuals who have developed strong technical proficiency and can perform most commercial and industrial electrical work independently. Under limited supervision, you will install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems while applying advanced electrical theory and code knowledge to ensure safe, high-quality installations.

In this role, you'll also begin serving as a mentor to junior apprentices, reinforcing PowerChampions' commitment to learning, teamwork, and professional development.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform commercial and industrial electrical installations with minimal supervision.
  • Install, modify, and troubleshoot electrical distribution systems and associated equipment.
  • Calculate electrical loads and properly size conductors, overcurrent protection, and related components.
  • Install transformers, distribution panels, feeders, branch circuits, and other power distribution equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, one-line diagrams, specifications, and electrical schematics.
  • Assist with specialty electrical systems, including controls, low voltage/data systems, and hazardous location installations.
  • Ensure work complies with National Electrical Code (NEC), company standards, and project specifications.
  • Mentor and support Level 1 and Level 2 Electrical Workers by demonstrating best practices and providing on-the-job guidance.
  • Coordinate assigned work with supervisors and other trades to maintain project schedules.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Significant progress toward completion of an approved electrical apprenticeship program.
  • Experience performing commercial and industrial electrical installations.
  • Ability to independently complete standard electrical installation tasks.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Experience reading electrical blueprints, specifications, and wiring diagrams.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (if required by position).
  • Ability to travel to assigned job sites as needed.


Preferred Qualifications

  • NCCER Level 3 coursework or equivalent.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience with electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Experience with transformers, distribution equipment, controls, or industrial electrical systems.
  • Experience mentoring apprentices or leading portions of electrical projects.


Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of load calculations, conductor sizing, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of transformers, panels, feeders, and commercial power systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical equipment and identify system faults.
  • Familiarity with commercial, industrial, and specialty electrical systems, including controls and low-voltage/data installations.
  • Strong understanding of grounding, bonding, overcurrent protection, and NEC requirements.
  • Ability to interpret complex electrical drawings and project specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous learning.


Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work at varying heights.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, electrical testing equipment, and material handling equipment.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
