Role Description The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) at Powerback supports licensed Occupational Therapists in delivering high-quality rehabilitative and wellness services to patients. In this full-time, on-site role located in Clemson, SC, the COTA assists with implementing treatment plans, facilitating therapeutic activities, and documenting patient progress in accordance with clinical and regulatory standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include providing direct patient care, educating patients and caregivers on home programs, and contributing to interdisciplinary care planning. The COTA collaborates with therapists, nursing staff, and other team members to promote functional independence, safety, and successful transitions across care settings.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Occupational Therapy support and Rehabilitation techniques.
- Candidates should possess skills in Patient Care, including compassionate, person-centered interaction and monitoring of functional progress.
- Candidates should possess skills in Program Development and Home Care planning to support carryover of therapy into daily living.
- Current certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) and active state license (or eligibility) in South Carolina.
- Knowledge of rehabilitation documentation standards and basic familiarity with electronic health records.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team and communicate clearly with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Physical ability to assist patients safely, including transfers and therapeutic activities, in accordance with clinical guidelines.
- Previous experience in a rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or home health setting is preferred but not required.
