Position Summary

The Superintendent is responsible for overall field execution of a utility-scale solar project. This role leads daily construction operations, coordinates crews and subcontractors, enforces safety standards, and ensures production targets are met in alignment with schedule and budget.

The Superintendent is the primary on-site operational leader, translating project plans into disciplined field performance.

Strategic ResponsibilityField Execution Strategy

  • Develop weekly and daily execution plans aligned with the master schedule.
  • Sequence work activities to protect critical path milestones.
  • Align manpower and equipment resources with production goals.

Productivity Optimization

  • Establish crew productivity benchmarks (MW/week targets).
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
  • Support lean construction principles in field operations.

Risk Prevention

  • Anticipate schedule, safety, and quality risks before escalation.
  • Coordinate proactively with the Construction Manager to mitigate impacts.

Operational ExecutionDaily Site Oversight

  • Supervise all field crews and subcontractors.
  • Conduct daily coordination meetings with Foremen.
  • Ensure material availability and proper staging.
  • Maintain orderly and efficient jobsite conditions.

Schedule & Production Control

  • Monitor daily installed quantities (piles, racking, modules, conduit).
  • Track production against schedule milestones.
  • Implement recovery plans when performance falls behind.

Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate civil, mechanical, and electrical scopes.
  • Communicate field progress and issues to the Construction Manager.
  • Support QA/QC and Safety teams during inspections.

  • Monitor crew hours to maintain budgeted labor targets.

  • Prevent material waste and damage.
  • Coordinate equipment usage to avoid idle costs.

  • Labor hours per installed MW

People LeadershipField Leadership

  • Directly supervise Foremen and support their development.
  • Maintain accountability standards across crews.
  • Promote teamwork and strong communication.

  • Enforce OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Conduct daily safety briefings.
  • Address unsafe behavior immediately.

Workforce Development

  • Identify high-performing employees for advancement.
  • Mentor future Foremen and field leaders.
  • Foster positive jobsite culture.

Compliance / Risk ManagementSafety Compliance

  • Ensure site compliance with OSHA and company policies.
  • Monitor fall protection, trench safety, and electrical safety.
  • Document incidents and corrective actions.

Contract & Scope Compliance

  • Verify work aligns with project drawings and specifications.
  • Prevent unauthorized scope deviations.
  • Support proper change order documentation.

Quality & Inspection Readiness

  • Coordinate with the QA/QC team for inspection scheduling.
  • Ensure work meets required standards before inspection.
  • Maintain clean and audit-ready site documentation.

Qualifications

  • 5–12 years construction experience (utility-scale solar preferred)
  • 2–5 years supervisory experience in field operations
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
  • OSHA 30 preferred
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
