- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in insurance verification, authorization coordination, or patient financial services
- Knowledge of insurance plan limitations on care, requirements for pre-authorization for services, patient obligations for payment, and reimbursement/billing requirements.
- Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area. Skilled in computer use: MS Office (Excel, Word and Outlook).
- Experience contacting insurance companies and verifying coverage details
- Strong understanding of insurance benefits, eligibility, and authorization processes
- Experience working in a phone-heavy role with insurance providers
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- EPIC experience
- Experience in a hospital or specialty clinic setting
- Experience with pediatric patients or children's hospital environment
- Experience handling high-volume authorization workflows
- Ability to manage multiple insurance cases and follow-ups simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving skills when navigating insurance discrepancies
- Comfortable working with extended hold times and frequent outbound calls

- High level of accuracy when documenting insurance and authorization details

Responsibilities
- Contact insurance providers to verify patient eligibility, coverage, and benefits
- Submit authorization requests and ensure timely processing for upcoming services
- Review and explain insurance benefits and coverage details to patients and families
- Documents all insurance companies on pending authorizations and required documentation
- Coordinate with scheduling and clinical teams to ensure patients are financially cleared prior to appointments
- Manage multiple cases simultaneously, prioritizing urgent or time-sensitive authorizations
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in insurance coverage or authorization requirements
- handle high volumes of outbound calls and extended hold times professionally
- Support appointment readiness by ensuring all insurance and authorization requirements are completed in advance
- Maintain strong organization and efficiency when managing high-volume workflows
