Required

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in insurance verification, authorization coordination, or patient financial services
• Knowledge of insurance plan limitations on care, requirements for pre-authorization for services, patient obligations for payment, and reimbursement/billing requirements.
• Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area. Skilled in computer use: MS Office (Excel, Word and Outlook).
• Experience contacting insurance companies and verifying coverage details
• Strong understanding of insurance benefits, eligibility, and authorization processes
• Experience working in a phone-heavy role with insurance providers
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong customer service and communication skills

Preferred

• EPIC experience
• Experience in a hospital or specialty clinic setting
• Experience with pediatric patients or children's hospital environment
• Experience handling high-volume authorization workflows

Responsibilities

• Contact insurance providers to verify patient eligibility, coverage, and benefits
• Submit authorization requests and ensure timely processing for upcoming services
• Review and explain insurance benefits and coverage details to patients and families
• Documents all insurance companies on pending authorizations and required documentation
• Coordinate with scheduling and clinical teams to ensure patients are financially cleared prior to appointments
• Manage multiple cases simultaneously, prioritizing urgent or time-sensitive authorizations
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in insurance coverage or authorization requirements
• handle high volumes of outbound calls and extended hold times professionally
• Support appointment readiness by ensuring all insurance and authorization requirements are completed in advance
• Maintain strong organization and efficiency when managing high-volume workflows
