Systems Engineer - Microsoft Infrastructure & ERP

The Systems Engineering department has a focus on designing, creating, administering, and continuously improving core on-premise systems that support critical business applications, including our ERP platform (Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains). Engineers in this role are responsible for deploying, maintaining, and improving existing infrastructure, while ensuring the availability, performance, and stability of ERP and other mission-critical systems. This includes supporting production environments, responding to incidents, and proactively identifying opportunities to improve the resiliency of core systems. Responsibilities
- Plan, provision, and maintain on-premise hardware and server infrastructure
- Perform system upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management for infrastructure and ERP-supporting systems.
- Coordinate with ERP vendors on projects, upgrades, and support tickets.
- Maintain and improve infrastructure using automation tools and scripting.
- Support and maintain systems backing Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, including Windows Server and SQL Server components.
- Participate in an on-call rotation using PagerDuty to respond to and resolve incidents.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and system issues across multiple layers.
- Respond and resolve complex infrastructure and ERP-related issues as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
- Contribute to infrastructure modernization and reliability initiatives.
- Partner closely and support Corporate Finance, vendors, and development teams to ensure system availability and performance.

- Capable of proposing and implementing custom in-house solutions to meet business needs.
- Strong experience administering Windows Server environments (2016-2022)
- Experience supporting on-premise Microsoft infrastructure, including: DNS, Group Policy, File services, and high availability solutions
- Experience supporting ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains
- SQL Server administration fundamentals (backups, maintenance, performance basics)
- Experience with virtualization and IaaS technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, or similar)
- Infrastructure automation and configuration management experience (Ansible, Puppet, or similar)
- Scripting experience using PowerShell, Bash, and/or Python
- Understanding of Git workflows and version-controlled infrastructure
- Experience with monitoring, alerting, and logging systems
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex, multi-system issues
- Experience debugging and maintaining custom infrastructure tooling or scripts
- Hands-on experience with physical data centers and server hardware
- Exposure to container infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Infrastructure-as-code practices
- Experience with authentication systems (Active Directory, LDAP, OIDC)
- Experience with metrics visualization platforms and observability tooling
