Senior Substation Project EngineerJob Summary
At POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, we are currently seeking a senior level electrical or mechanical engineer to work as a Substation Project Engineer in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Augusta office located in Hallowell, Maine. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within driving distance of the office).
Roles And Responsibilities
- Grow and manage relationships with local clients.
- Mentor less experienced staff in substation project execution.
- Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations including one-line diagrams, three line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling.
- Ensure POWER quality procedures are followed and that the team is resourced in an optimal manner.
- Perform QA/QC for deliverables to clients across multiple offices.
- Manage all schedule, budget, and quality of assigned projects.
- BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering), BSME (BS Mechanical Engineering), BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) or BSMET (BS Mechanical Engineering Technology) from an accredited university.
- Professional Engineering license (PE) or ability to obtain within one year.
- Experience in 15kV through 345kV physical and electrical substation design, and IEEE/ANSI standards.
- Experience in managing 5 or more people on a project team.
- Experience filling the role of project engineer for several projects occurring concurrently.
- The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
- Ten or more years experience in utility substation design is preferred.
- Experience with and established positive relationships with local clients.
- Experience in 345kV through 500 kV substation design.
