Mid-Level Distribution EngineerSummary Of Roles And Responsibilities
POWER Engineers, Inc. is currently seeking a Mid-Level Distribution Engineer to join the Distribution Department in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The qualified candidate should have previous exposure to electrical utility standards. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- The ability to use common industry design software packages
- Create designs for both overhead and underground distribution systems (4 kV to 35 kV)
- Perform calculations, interpret codes and standards, create construction packages and perform quality control reviews
- The candidate must be capable of working both independently and within a team framework, and will be expected to deal directly with clients
- The ability to lead and direct a team of engineers, designers, and drafters
- Some travel should be expected
- A Bachelor of Science Engineering degree, prior utility design experience, or distribution line construction
- Three (3) years of experience in designing and/or operating overhead and underground distribution lines (4 kV through 35 kV)
- General construction knowledge and aptitude.
- Familiarity with distribution design software, the National Electric Safety Code, and utility best practices
- Strong command of the English language and possess good written and oral communications skills
- Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process
- Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Must have a strong command of the English language and possess good written and oral communications skills.
- Professional Engineer (PE) Certification, or ability to obtain one
- Prior utility experience
- Exposure to utility Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and utility design software (DDS, BOUD, SPIDAcalc, O-Calc, PoleForeman, PLS-CADD)
- AutoCAD and/or MicroStation experience
