As an Estimator – Change Order at Power Design, you’ll be responsible for preparing accurate, timely estimates and cost analyses for project change orders across multiple disciplines. This position plays a key role in maintaining project profitability, supporting operations, and ensuring that change-related work complies with Power Design’s standards of excellence. You’ll work collaboratively across teams to drive accuracy, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Position Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate change order estimates for electrical, low voltage, mechanical, and specialty systems.
- Review design and construction documents to identify changes in scope and quantify cost impacts.
- Utilize estimating software and internal databases to generate cost projections, material takeoffs, and labor analysis.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to confirm constructability, labor needs, and project conditions.
- Perform pricing and cost analysis for materials, subcontractors, and labor to ensure accuracy and profitability.
- Draft and review bid documents, ensuring consistency with Power Design’s standards and client requirements.
- Support preconstruction and field operations by ensuring all change order estimates are completed in a timely, professional manner.
- Provide recommendations for cost-saving measures and process improvements.
- Ensure documentation accuracy and version control in estimating platforms.
- Participate in onboarding and mentorship for junior estimators and associate team members.
- Demonstrate and uphold Power Design’s core values of integrity, accountability, teamwork, innovation, and growth.
- Bachelor’s degree or Journeyman’s license (or industry equivalent) plus 2 years of relevant estimating experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Bluebeam or other PDF-editing software.
- Experience using estimating software (such as ConEST or Accubid) required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across departments and clients.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of financial and operational drivers that impact project success.
